By now, you may be wondering…
“What does prophecy actually look like in everyday life?”
Many people imagine prophecy only happening from a church platform or behind a microphone.
But throughout Scripture we see God speaking to ordinary people in ordinary moments.
The Holy Spirit desires to work through us wherever we are—at home, at work, in the grocery store, over coffee with a friend, or while praying with someone after church.
In the Prophetic Life Lesson 1, we learned about the four primary ways we perceive God’s voice. Each one becomes a beautiful expression of the prophetic life as we learn to love people and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.
The Seer
You see beyond the natural and bring Heaven into the moment.
- Notices what others miss.
- Sees people the way God sees them.
- Senses spiritual atmospheres and knows when to pray.
- Recognizes opportunities to bring hope, healing, and help.
The Hearer
You hear God’s voice and speak it with love.
- Shares timely words that encourage.
- Brings Scripture to life in everyday conversations.
- Listens carefully and hears what others haven’t said.
- Speaks life, wisdom, direction, and hope.
The Feeler
You feel what God feels and love people like Jesus.
- Senses when someone is hurting and responds with compassion.
- Carries others faithfully in prayer.
- Brings peace into difficult situations.
- Steps in to help, comfort, and restore.
The Knower
You know what others don’t and bring wisdom in the moment.
- Knows when to speak, when to act, and when to remain silent.
- Remembers details that become significant later.
- Discerns God’s timing and helps others avoid unnecessary difficulty.
- Offers wisdom that brings clarity, peace, and direction.
None of these expressions are about drawing attention to ourselves.
They are simply different ways the Holy Spirit chooses to love people through willing believers.
As you continue to grow in hearing God’s voice, don’t become preoccupied with how He speaks through you.
Instead, become available.
Love people.
Listen well.
Obey faithfully.
Trust the Holy Spirit with the results.
Because ultimately…
“The goal is not to appear spiritual. The goal is to love people well while walking with the Holy Spirit.”
