Love Everyone. Trust According to Fruit. Give Access According to Wisdom.
Are you surrounding yourself with people who sharpen you—or people who drain you?
Not every relationship is meant to have the same level of access to your life. Scripture teaches us how to recognize wisdom, foolishness, and destructive behavior—and, more importantly, how to respond to each.

Why Biblical Discernment Matters
Jesus commands us to love others, but does that mean we should trust everyone equally?
In Matthew 7:6, Jesus warns against giving what is holy to those who will neither recognize nor value it. Later, He teaches that we can recognize people by their fruit (Matthew 7:16–20).
Biblical discernment is not about judging people harshly. It is about recognizing patterns of behavior and responding with godly wisdom.
Proverbs 13:20 (TLV) reminds us:
“He who walks with wise men is wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.”
Three Types of People Scripture Teaches Us to Recognize
The Bible provides clear examples of three broad patterns of behavior:
1. The Wise — INVEST
Wise people receive correction, seek understanding, and grow through instruction. Abigail (1 Samuel 25) demonstrates how wisdom can prevent destruction and bring peace.
2. The Foolish — ESTABLISH BOUNDARIES
Foolish people often reject counsel, repeat mistakes, and resist correction. Nabal (1 Samuel 25) illustrates how foolishness can endanger not only ourselves but also those around us.
3. The Wicked or Destructive — SEPARATE & PROTECT
Scripture warns against those who deliberately deceive, manipulate, sow discord, or persist in wrongdoing. Herod Antipas demonstrates the destructive consequences of rejecting righteous correction (Mark 6:17–28).
These distinctions are not about labeling people based on isolated mistakes. They are about recognizing persistent patterns and the fruit they produce.
Love Does Not Eliminate Wisdom or Boundaries
Jesus loved everyone, yet He did not entrust Himself to everyone (John 2:24–25).
We are called to love, forgive, and extend grace. But love does not require us to enable foolishness, tolerate destructive behavior, or surrender healthy boundaries.
LOVE EVERYONE. TRUST ACCORDING TO FRUIT. GIVE ACCESS ACCORDING TO WISDOM.
